Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is built on the premise that our thoughts (cognitions) feelings and behaviours are all interconnected. So, the way we think about a situation can impact the way we feel and behave. CBT aims to change negative thoughts and beliefs and alter unhelpful behaviours to improve emotional wellbeing.
What can CBT help with?
- Depression
- Anxiety disorders
- PTSD
- OCD
- Low self esteem
- Pain
- Chronic Fatigue
Benefits
- Long-Term Resilience: CBT emphasises learning strategies, tools and techniques to manage your own mood. These will provide lasting benefits and prevent relapse long after sessions end.
- Practical Coping Skills: you’ll learn actionable, step-by-step techniques to reframe distorted thinking and change unhelpful behaviours.
- Effective Symptom Management: CBT is recommended by NICE Guidance as treatment for depression, anxiety, OCD and PTSD and many years of research has proven it’s effectiveness.
- Versatility: Beyond mental health, CBT is also used to help people cope with chronic physical conditions, including chronic pain, tinnitus, and IBS.
- Increased Self-Awareness: You will gain profound insight into how your specific thoughts, feelings, and actions interact, allowing you to break free from self-sabotaging cycles.
What sessions look like:
CBT sessions generally last 50-60 minutes. If the session is remote, we will usually meet on Microsoft Teams using a link sent out ahead of the session. If your session is face-to-face, we will meet in the Maldon-based office in one of the comfortable and tranquil therapy rooms.
Fees: £85 for 50 minutes
